On Wednesday December 14th, Dark Sparkle steps underground to another historic San Francisco club venue...The Purple Onion!
Steeped in San Francisco performance history, you feel it as soon as you step foot through the door. It's dark, it's red, it's comfy and this Wednesday Dark Sparkle calls it home.
Sit back in the plush booths, sip a drink, see your friends and dance the night away. We can't wait for you to see it...and we can't wait to see you.
p.s. Don't let the address scare you. This isn't the heart of North Beach. The Purple Onion is located on the edge of the Financial District/North Beach border, only 1.5 blocks from the Transamerica Pyramid. We haven't had trouble with parking and don't think that you will either. It's important that we get feedback from you all, as we may be back to The Purple Onion quite a bit. Come out and let us know what you think!

Fri, December 9, 2005 - 2:42 PMHow did you get to Spin This!? Is there really a lot of parking around there? If so, I'll reserve a car (City Car Share), but if not I might BART or MUNI it. Although I always feel nervous dressing up for Dark Sparkle and riding public transportation.... -

Re: Dark Sparkle At The Historic Purple Onion! (Wed 12/14/05)
Mon, December 12, 2005 - 11:15 AMWe've walked around the area quite a bit while touring the place and I'm not worried about everyone being safe. The most dangerous thing I saw were some overpriced antiques in a store window. Common sense is key as always, but the area is definitely much more populated than the area around 330 Ritch. From what I understand the walk from public transportation isn't bad at all either if you don't feel like driving. I've posted a map and directions on both the front page and calendar sections of www.darksparkle.com. I hope you all can make it out on Wednesday. We're really looking forward to it!

Re: Dark Sparkle At The Historic Purple Onion! (Wed 12/14/05)
Thu, December 15, 2005 - 12:30 PMThanks for the really great event last night. I really liked the Purple Onion, it was a very nice space and it felt comfortable and a good fit for Dark Sparkle. The place feels like it has a lot of history, kind of like the Cafe du Nord of the East Side. No offense against 330 Ritch, but that place seems like a sports bar that puts candles on the tables for non-sports themed events. I also had no trouble parking, there were plenty of spaces within one block of the PO. My mom was in town last week, so last Saturday so we went to Caffe Macaroni, which at the time I didn't even realize was right next door. I would only agree to go to Caffe Macaroni because I didn't want to go any further into North Beach, and the stretch of Columbus that the PO is on is almost totally separate from the scary part of North Beach, so no worries there.
The set was awesome, too, really good music last night (as usual). I even took a break for a bit before leaving, so I was able to look at things that were above the floor, and now that I've seen more than peoples' shoes I can say what a nice bunch of kids go to Dark Sparkle. And someone smelled good, but I couldn't tell who it was (it definitely wasn't me...) Looking forward to more DS's at the PO. And for the 24th at CdN. Thanks again! -
